We offer our reviews of them to help you plan your getaways! When you stop by, please be sure to tell them we said, " HI!" |

It looks like a fairy tale setting on a postcard as you look away at the countryside. If you are looking for a home base to explore central Vermont on horseback, then we have found the place for you! Boarding for your horses is available at the Inn for a very reasonable fee. There are trails, a pond with ducks and new baby ducks. Porches with wonderful breezes and about every combination of family needs, from infant to handicapped, has been considered.
One of the best things about the inn is it's owner, Carolyn White. She has only had the inn since July and her hands-on approach has made this inn a must-stay-at destination. One day only made us want more!
With 18 rooms plus the restaurant, which is open to the public, Carolyn and her staff certainly have their hands full, but you'll only see them smile and keep taking care of your needs. The inn has a wonderful wraparound porch overlooking the mountains and Rock of Ages Quarry in the distance. Perched high on a hill, the summer breeze and large shade trees made the porch irresistible! As Mike roamed the grounds taking pictures, I caught up on some work on this great porch and watched the pair of adult ducks with their 20(!) babies wander past on their way to the pond.
The Inn was originally built in 1892 and some parts of the original structure remain. It was a working dairy farm until the mid 1980's when it was renovated to become this wonderful country inn. The large living room boasts a huge fireplace and there are 2 dining rooms as well as several guest rooms on the first floor. The remainder of the guest rooms and sitting areas are on the second floor. Each room is air conditioned and has both TV/VCR and telephone. The furnishings are pure and simple country traditional and antique. Some rooms are carpeted, others feature the wide-plank hardwood floors of yesteryear. The Inn also has a handicap accessible entrance and one handicap accessible guest room.
Mike took tons of pictures, even of our camera-shy waitress, Diane, who finally was good hearted enough to stop trying to avoid him and his favorite toy and even asked him to take pictures of Carolyn as she prepared the evening meal.
Much to our surprise, she even provided breakfast for us the next morning. This was an added feature we had not expected and much appreciated as all too soon we had to leave for our next destination.
This is another great Vermont inn and when you to visit their Website and tell them Cruising America says "Hi!"
