The Belfry Inne and Bistro
Sandwich, Massachusetts

The Belfry Inne (Circa 1879) exemplifies an era renowned for gentility and grace. This stately structure, once a rectory, is located next to a church, which owner/innkeeper Christopher Wilson has also purchased and is currently renovating. He will be adding 6 more guest rooms and expanding the restaurant. We can not wait to return and see the results. If his present work at the Belfry is an example… it will truly be something that Sandwich is mighty proud of.

Mike had been waiting for the invitation to stroll through the upstairs and work his way to the belfry to take pictures and when it came he quickly told me what he wanted for dinner and began…... He was surprised by how big the rooms were and how well the space was utilized.

The winding grand staircase upon entering is astounding, elegant and hints of the treasures to be found in the rooms above.

Christopher entered the dining room and let Mike know that he could take pictures at will and he took off! Our table was right beside the sliding glass door at the rear of the restaurant. The tables were set with linen, crystal and fine china and we had a corner view of the back gardens. Our review tonight had been organized by Harry at The Captain Ezyer Nye House.

Our dinner started with the Roasted Portabella Mushroom for Mike and I chose the Lobster, Scallop and Leek Strudel. Next came our entrees, Peppered Filet Mignon with asparagus and roasted potatoes and the angel hair pasta with chicken. Mike's filet cut like butter and was great! Mike passed on dessert and opted to take more pictures as he seemed mesmerized by the bar area and said he felt really relaxed in there. I, however, did not pass on dessert and ordered the Creme Brulee, which was a wonderful finish to a great meal! Executive Chef Peter Martin uses only the freshest items and best cuts of meat......and it was evident from the quality of our meal.

So the next time you're on Cape Cod and visiting the village of Sandwich, check out the Belfry's Website and tell them Cruising America says "Hi!"
