Casablanca Bed & Breakfast Inn
St. Augustine, Florida
We didn't know that deciding to attend Steve Demarast's class at the Inn Route conference would lead to a perfect evening on the bay in St. Augustine. But, when Tony & Brenda asked us to stay at their Casablanca Inn that evening instead of heading back to Carolina, we couldn't pass it up.
After saying we preferred a room with a phone and TV, we were taken to an elegant room in the Carriage House with Jacuzzi tub, desk, queen bed, night stands on BOTH sides, central air and plush carpets. It also had the neatest back balcony, which hung over Charlotte Street, a cobblestone lane with shops.
Horsedrawn carriages and trolley-type trains carried tourists all around telling of St. Augustine's rich history. The pickup points were only steps away.
We decided to sit on the front porch and watched the sun rays disappear across the water of the bay. Everywhere you looked were people in love.....young, not so young, and really not so young! It was a postcard setting. People rode by on bikes, walked along the sidewalk and many stopped and asked to just step inside Casablanca for a view. None were disappointed, as they promised to return someday after their tour of this grand old inn.
Tony and Brenda joined us on the porch around 7:30, just as a cool breeze off the bay began to play the wind chimes overhead. We talked about life on the road and helping them with their website. Our hosts were charming and entertaining. They took us on a tour of the main house. It is dedicated to those that want to get away from TV and phones. It was neat that this B&B had found a way to have both. At the rear of the property was the Carriage House, renovated to include the type of rooms we liked -- those with TV and phones!
| | Daisies accented our breakfast table the next morning. Joan started us off with blueberry or carrot muffins with whipped cream, strawberries and apple slices on the side. Fresh squeezed orange juice, water with lime slices and coffee were available. The main course was an egg quiche with salsa, watermelon, grapefruit, orange, honeydew and sour cream on the side. | |
All too quickly -- again -- it was time to hit the road and head for our next review. But, for the perfect place to stay in St. Augustine, be sure to look up
Casablanca Bed & Breakfast Inn when planning your next trip!
