Chocolate Drop Inn
Homer, AK
The view from our balcony at this B&B, made the whole trip to Alaska worthwhile. This inn is named after the mountain, directly in front of it, across the bay. The beauty at this inn is stunning and is a "must see" for those traveling to Homer for the first time. With this inn, you will want to return again and again.

Can you see the chocolate drop on the right side?
| Judy met us at the front door and greeted us with smiles. She took us through the inn. Mike took pictures while I listened to Judy explain how the Inn had evolved. Then she showed us to our room and a hot tub, just outside our door. After our tour, we opted to go to the famous Homestead restaurant just down the street and had a fabulous steak dinner. We returned and met some folks from Maryland that were on vacation. They had lots of questions about our travels in the last two years and we suggested many B&B's we had stayed at along the way. | |
Then Roger, Judy's husband came home and asked me to cover a new resort that is being developed across Otter Cove. After he said he would make the arrangements for me to tour Otter Cove Resort and Rookery Restaurant (accessible only by water, so of course Mike will not be going!), we headed to our room to work on some reviews.

Our room had a queen size bed, private bath with tub/shower, TV and telephone. We also were given run of two large common areas in the main house. The view from the huge windows surrounding the common areas is truly awesome. There were plenty of books and magazines for us to read. Mike took pictures as I curled up with a magazine about Alaska.
Just before retiring we went out on the porch and took some pictures, but the photos really didn't do the sights justice. We were getting an early borealis effect across the bay. We can only imagine how marvelous the true thing must be!
 | The next morning,my water taxi to Otter Cove would leave early, so we quickly ate our scrumptious breakfast of fresh fruits, quiche, potatoes and reindeer sausage, along with coffee, tea & orange juice. We then set off for Homer Spit once again. Mike dropped me off at the dock for my taxi ride with Homer Ocean Charters and then he took off to explore the Spit. This was a great inn!
