Cornish House Bed & Breakfast
North Vancouver, British Columbia
| Beverly had tickets to the Capilano Suspension Bridge waiting for us and organized for us to go to a couple of the other inns in the area. Their network helps to promote each other and the area. The bridge is Vancouver's oldest visitor attraction. It is 450 feet long and 230 above the Capilano River. The current bridge is the fourth one built at this location. It was chosen as "Attractions Canada 2000 Award for B.C.'s Best Outdoor Site". We enjoyed it, but with Cindy's fear of heights and my motion sensitivity, we did not venture out onto the bridge. And, of course, we had to do a little shopping at the Trading Post!
After our visit to the bridge, we drove over to Banister House B&B. The owners took us around on a tour. We visited a little in the back yard and then had to head out to the next one. We drove through the two block city of Edgemont Village. The folks at A Touch of English B&B were not home when we arrived, so we left press release and continued on to dinner. | |
We took Beverly's suggestion and dined at The Queen's Cross Public House. The restaurant had an old English chandelier and other antiques around the tavern. Cindy ordered a great burger and I had the hot wings...Good stuff! Went home to get some work done and then off to a great night's sleep. The next morning, coffee and tea were waiting on the landing before breakfast, allowing us to awaken slowly.
At breakfast we met a delightful gentleman from Alberta. Cindy thought, and later affirmed, that he was a teacher. He was fascinated with our travels and likened me to Abraham...on a sojourn and to Moses. I just smiled and I could tell Cindy was visualizing me "parting the seas". We had a great laugh! Yes, we will remember you, Mr. Black and could have spent many hours talking to you and soaking up your wisdom! At my request, Beverly served a light breakfast of honeydew melon with mango/vanilla yogurt, cold cereals and toast and hot croissants with butter and jams. It was a wonderful end to our stay at Cornish House!

As we prepared to leave, other guests were ringing on the phone and reservations being made. With folks like Beverly and her family, we can see why. Canada has a bright future in the bed & breakfast industry!
