Florida House Inn Restaurant
Amelia Island, Florida
We had stayed at the Florida House Inn just days before and our hosts, Bob & Karen Warner, had been disappointed that we had not dined at the restaurant inside the inn. They wanted a review of this part of their business as well. With little persuasion required, we agreed to stop for lunch on our way back to Carolina.
Erin, our hostess, greeted us with a big smile, took us to seats one and two at the 10-foot long table and explained how the family style meal worked. "Just sit down and eat," she said. Our waitress Kimberly started bringing out bowl after bowl of great country food!
 | Karen joined us for lunch and said she had a new dish she would like our opinion of. The dish was cabbage and rice. We told her it worked well with the country dishes arrayed around us. The meal consisted of chicken & dumplings (a standard bearer on Wednesdays), fried chicken (served for both lunch and dinner every day in addition to other meats), green beans, yams with pecans, mandarin carrots, cornbread and biscuits. |
For dessert, Mike had apple crisp and Cindy chose the chocolate cake with peanut butter/chocolate frosting. As always, there were pitchers of sweet and unsweetened tea and water on the table, as well as fresh tomatoes, garden onions, lemon slices, hot peppers and pickles.
A wonderful meal! And a wonderful way to carry us back up the road and into Carolina! Be sure to tell Karen & Bob and all the gang that we said "HI!" when you stop in at The Florida House.
