Flery Manor
Grant's Pass, Oregon
The staircase in the foyer is the focus. |
Starting Oregon off was a showcase for the Bed & Breakfast industry. We were honored to be given the newest room at the inn. They had added it because of the demand for space at the inn......a statement which tells you a lot! Flery Manor is special in many ways.
Marla and John are now in their 7th year of innkeeping and have beautifully decorated their home. With 5 guest rooms and 3 common areas inside, the home is warm and inviting. A large deck overlooking the gardens and the mountains in the distance is a most picturesque spot for relaxing and enjoying the many birds and waterfowl that also visit Flery Manor. In residence is a black swan peacefully gliding around the pond. While we were there a pair of Canadian geese and 2 babies had also stopped by!
Cindy went into the garden to take photos, while I went upstairs and took a tour of the rooms so the others staying that evening could get in upon their arrival. Afterwards, we went to the Italian restaurant, Bistros. Upon our return, I downloaded pictures while Cindy worked on data files. John turned on the satellite TV for me to enjoy the sport recaps on ESPN.

| The garden overflowed with flowers and shrubbery nearly in full bloom. Cindy really enjoyed the gazebo and waterfall, which then flows along a rock lined path down the hillside, under the steps of the gazebo and into the koi pond. Flowers and plants were everywhere and highlighted each dish and table. The garden allows Marla to accent the breakfast dishes and the presentations were stunning. From the moment you enter the Inn, you are greeted by the fresh cut flowers, bringing a bit of the garden right inside! | |
 | Our room featured a king size bed, gas fireplace, settee and chair and soft lighting in the bedroom, as well as bathrobes and slippers in the closet. The bath was a few steps up into a room nearly as large! It showcased a double Jacuzzi tub next to a one-way glass picture window overlooking the room's patio and the gardens. It also had a large glass shower and 2 sinks. All the amenities you may have forgotten were available along with extra large bath towels. | |

Breakfast the next morning was served in the dining room and we enjoyed visiting with the other guests. As John started us off with coffee, tea and orange juice, Marla detailed the treats awaiting us. We were served baked apple stuffed with wild blackberries, along with a homemade Scottish shortbread cookie. Next came potato pancakes, Lithuanian style, with a specialty of the house....a prune stuffed with apple and wrapped with bacon. The main course was a fresh herb vegetable and egg crepe with hollandaise sauce made from fruit juices. A delightful way to start our day and the Oregon part of the Spring/Summer Tour!

As we headed out after breakfast and a hug from Marla, we are very pleased to be able to recommend this wonderful Inn just a few minutes north of Grants Pass proper. Be sure to visit the website for Flery Manor Bed & Breakfast and when you make your reservations, tell them Cruising America says HI!
