Henson Cove Bed & Breakfast

Hiawasee, Georgia, was in USA Today a couple years back as the city with the lowest crime rate in the United States and there we found a perfect B&B, Henson Cove Bed & Breakfast.
We stayed a lot in rocking chairs on the front porch, staring at the huge white pine tree, admiring the flowered front yard and the animals in the pasture across the road.
As you enter the home, you are drawn to all the homemade woodworks and quilts that adorn the walls and each room. The living room even has a church pew. And the hand-cranked phonograph in the corner still works.
We stayed in the Mountain Room, with terry cloth robes and an air conditioner. We did appreciate the A/C because the area is going through an unusual heat wave. We were also graciously allowed to hookup our computer and download our email -- something we had been unable to do for 4 days and there was a LOT of it!
We admired the 1929 tiger paw tub, the hand loom with pantyhose rugs in the works, and Nancy's baby quilt, which still looked great.
Cindy is an avid reader and had a blast trying to decide between 2,000+ books in the library. The kitchen was large with an island. Huge white pine beams were decorated with Charleston, SC, sweet grass baskets and hanging pans that Bill had put in.
A separate dining area was where we enjoyed a fresh raspberry and peach cup, egg quiche, banana nut muffins, orange juice, tea and coffee for breakfast. Nancy presented us with a jar of homemade rhubarb-strawberry jam as we prepared to leave.
As we drove away, two sayings on the living room kept coming back to us; "Come unwind with us" and "We treat you like family". When in the North Georgia mountains, stop by for a wonderfully relaxing time with Bill & Nancy and tell them we said "HI!". Also, be sure to visit their website when making your travel plans.
