Inn on Main Street
Weaverville, North Carolina
After a day at Biltmore, we were looking to retreat to a quiet inn with a peaceful setting. Dan Ward organized and scheduled the 16 inns participating in reviews as part of the Asheville Bed & Breakfast Association. With his help, I have been able to really enjoy the Asheville area....thanks Dan!

Dan and Nancy were saying goodbye to Howard & Kristen Dunsenbery (fron the Dry Ridge Inn), as we pulled into the driveway. After talking with Howard, we agreed he needed a review! They headed off to greet their guests for the evening and Dan led us on the tour of his inn.
My room had a wicker desk, 31-inch TV with remote, queen bed with a white and brass headboard and footboard and a down comforter, loveseat and an overhead fan. A 6-drawer dresser was in the closet with a fan, pillows and extra blankets. I had a private bath with tub and shower. It had an old medicine cabinet with ten drawers in it and a butler's basket on top.

As I was looking at the room, I heard tremendous laughter coming from the breakfast area and found Nancy, Dan, Louise and Mom all red faced from sharing stories about a parade that the Shriners had been rained out of in South Carolina. I was glad to see them all having such a good time.
| We went out to dinner and then returned to the inn. Mom and Louise watched TV while I took a walk. It was such a peaceful town. I headed "home" for a great night's sleep.
The next morning, Dan was cooking as I entered the breakfast room. I gave him his photo disks and started my day with hot tea. Mom and Louise joined me for cantaloupe, strawberries, grapefruit and kiwi. Louise begged him for his recipe of strawberry muffins.....they were so fluffy! | |

Our main course was a frittata with potatoes, sweet bell peppers, rosemary, onions, eggs, tomatoes and parmesan cheese. Fresh whole wheat and French bread with strawberry and raspberry jams made it complete. Dan uses vegetable and herbs from his gardens in all his cooking.
At breakfast, we also met a couple from Missouri who suggested some B&Bs from their area. We should be out that way someday! They seemed to be very happy with their room in the cottage. Make sure you book your stay in the Weaverville area with The Inn On Main Street and be sure to tell them Cruising America said Hi! |
