Jakey's Fork Homestead Bed & Breakfast

Irene met us as we finished parking "The Eagle". She ushered us in and then started us off on a "tour" to remember! As we toured, she explained that she was just a few days away from retiring as a school teacher.
This property, with its history involving Butch Cassidy - who spent the Christmas of 1889 in one of the homestead cabins - is set in the Badlands. Yet, it is along a beautiful stream, Jakey's Fork, tree laden and grassy. The many nooks and crannys of the land are filled with the flowers and shrubs that Irene lovingly tends each year.
The beams in the home are huge and have a history of their own - ask Irene about them on your tour and you'll be surprised! As we visited the rooms of their home, we found vases of fresh flowers everywhere and details that suited each room.
Our stay was spent in the Whiskey Mountain Room. With a wonderful view of the Mountain, the room was large and airy. On the bed was a handmade quilt and the soft lighting in this room (as throughout the house) highlighted the portraits, furnishings and decorations making the whole atmosphere very inviting. We spent the evening enjoying some of Irene's homemade pizza and great conversation! The next morning, breakfast consisted of canteloupe, raspberries, apples, sour dough pancakes that were thin and light and wonderful, elk sausage, orange juice and coffee.
