Austin Lone Star RV Resort
Austin, Texas
| We had heard of this award-winning park and had looked forward to staying and doing our review. Arriving at the front gate, we were greeted by a monitored sliding gate. After registering, we were escorted to our site (#64) by one of the many hosts by golf cart. With all the extra vigilance towards the property, we felt safe the entire stay. This park was chosen as this year's Medium Campground of the Year by the National RV and Campground Association......... and it was easy to see why! | |
Management has recently built a new laundry building so they could expand the gift shop. It is the largest gift shop and grocery, at a campground, we have found in our travels. Inside the store, breakfast is prepared for campers Wednesday through Sunday, making it easier to stay at the park instead of leaving. This is a great way for the RVer's to get to know each other better. There is a pool table, pinball machines and lots of sitting area.
There's a wide screen TV, tons of books and magazines and loads of friendly faces to share times with. They even had a large choice of ice cream that Mike went and got for us two of the three nights, we were here.
 | Trees and shrubbery outline and accent the sites. The sites were wide, long and well spaced. There is a small building with dataports available for those who need them. Many of the sites also have instant phone hookups.....our favorite! The weather was gorgeous for the first two days. The last day, winter finally blew in. It still wasn't close to Casper in the winter. We were glad to have gotten to the park early and had some warm weather to enjoy as we took our photos. The shower facilities were enclosed for privacy, complete with sink, toilet, shower and plenty of places to hang your clothes. They had everything, including sunlamps that kept it warm while toweling off. Skylights made it more bright and cheery. And everything was spotless! |
The people that work in and live at this park are always trying to improve the RV lifestyle. While we were there we heard about a workcampers program being organized for April. The signup list for the class is almost full already. And one of the residents runs a Working in Campgrounds forum online for RVer's.
The park has a policy. "If it moves, wave at it!" And everyone follows it to the letter. This is a great campground (as a matter of fact we had a free day and came back!) and if you find yourself in the Austin area, check out Austin's Lone Star RV Resort and let them know we sent you!
