Maxie's Campground
The drive from New Orleans to Broussard was quick and smooth, so we arrived a little early for our review at Maxie's.
Jason was cutting the grass and working around the Park as we arrived. He told us to choose any site we'd like to stay at. He came over to the Eagle later to view our map and ask questions about all the places we've stayed. He also offered us the use of a phone line in the office to check our email or do what we needed to do.
Cindy accepted and headed off to the office. I walked around and took some pictures for the review.
This campground had everything except instant phone hook ups. Regular phone service was available for those that stayed long-term and the monthly rates were very reasonable. There was a pay phone, newspaper stands and soft drink machine located just outside the laundry room. The lots were well spaced, level and set among the live oak trees. Each of these trees was transplanted from the swamps of Bayou Tortue by Jason's grandfather many years ago!
A narrow stream runs just behind the campground. But there was a bridge over the stream that would take you to the other side, where there were ball fields and lots of grassy area for recreation. Though the park is small, it is very conveniently located, just a few miles off Interstate 10, and right along the path for the new I-49! Nearby are restaurants, shopping and just about anything else you would need.
After a great night's sleep, we rose early and headed off for Texas. .
