Meadow Marsh Bed & Breakfast

Located on 12 secluded acres, just 30 minutes from Disney World and 15 minutes from from downtown Orlando with its Church Street Station and other local attractions, is a stately Victorian home that Cavelle and John had already started to decorate for the Christmas holidays to come. The property was serene and proved to be a great retreat for Cindy and me. Our every need was taken care of.

Our tour included all the guest rooms of the Inn and a peek at the model trains John builds…the detail is amazing! The rooms are all beautifully furnished and decorated in antiques. A lifetime of memorabilia adorns every corner of this stately home, from the grand piano in the common area downstairs, to the beautiful old china in the dining room, to teddy bears everywhere (another favorite of Cindy's).

Our room was Edith's Rose Room, a suite overlooking the gardens. A great queen size bed and two side chairs faced the romantic gas fireplace. Our private bath included a huge Jacuzzi tub, lots of thick towels and everything we needed. In what had once been a sleeping porch, a day bed, rocker and wicker furniture invited us to relax and enjoy a book or one of the available magazines.

Cavelle had previously operated a large gift shop and tea room nearby and had one of the best stocked gift shops at a B&B that we've seen. The Inn provides lots of off-street parking and the grounds just call out to you to roam among the huge old trees dripping with Spanish moss. Wide verandas adorn the second floor and flowers were in bloom everywhere.

After Cavelle accommodated two early risers with their breakfast, she and John joined us for breakfast, along with a young couple from Kansas. Breakfast was accompanied by lively conversation.....almost a 3-generation view of places and events.

Our meal started with a cantaloupe quarter topped with a slice of kiwi, a dollop of yogurt, a grape and sprinkled with wheat germ. Coffee, tea and orange juice accompanied it. Next came granola cereal with apple chunks, followed by a wonderful French toast loaded with strawberry sauce and whipped cream.

We could have easily spent weeks here walking the grounds and relaxing. Because of the popularity of this Inn, you must call for an appointment or reservation. Cavelle loves to get phone calls and she is not able to take drop-ins or show the home without an appointment. When you visit, you'll see why!
