Newport Belle Bed & Breakfast
Newport, Oregon

When was the last time the amenities you enjoyed at a B&B included life jackets for everyone??? That was just one of the unique aspects of our stay at the Newport Belle Bed & Breakfast!

The Inn is actually a stern wheeler docked at the Newport Marina! With 6 staterooms available, there is something for everyone! The Newport Belle is a newly constructed riverboat specifically designed as a B&B. It combines both the nostalgia and uniqueness of a turn-of-the-century atmosphere with all the amenities a traveler could want. The boat is 97 feet long and has 3100 square feet of living space on 3 decks. The common area of the boat includes a living room setting with TV/VCR, books, games, puzzles and a woodburning stove, all next to the breakfast area overlooking the harbor.

Our stateroom was on the 3rd deck and boasted not only a king size bed, but a spectacular view of the harbor and the bridge! There were lots of pillows and a down comforter on the bed, a small table & 2 chairs, a rocking chair and a private bath with large shower and all the things we might have forgotten to bring along.

After a tour of the boat, Sherry allowed us to download our email at a special dataport she has ready and waiting in the office area. Mike was off and about taking photos, of course! We spotted a seal in the harbor and Sherry spied an eagle soaring past, but I was too slow to get the camera ready for a picture! For dinner we stayed "at home" and spent some more time with Lexxus before retiring to our stateroom. With the windows open to the cool breeze, we snuggled under the down comforter for a great night's sleep.

The next morning, breakfast was another treat. Served buffet style, we had lots of choices! They included coffee, tea and orange juice, homemade granola, cranberry orange pecan muffins and French bread with garlic artichoke spread. The fresh fruit bowl offered cantaloupe, grapes, strawberries, honeydew melon, mango, watermelon and kiwi. Next Sherry came out with hash browns and a quiche with green onions, dill, thyme, sharp cheddar, Monterey jack and Swiss cheeses and bacon. What a way to start our next leg of the trip!

As we disembarked, Sherry gave us a hug and a wish for safe travels. What a great B&B....with a twist!

When you are traveling along the Oregon coast, be sure to stop by The Newport Belle Bed & Breakfast website, make your reservations and be sure to tell Sherry that Cruising America made the recommendation!
