Lake Nottely RV Park

As we entered Lake Nottely RV Park, we were greeted by Ken, the manager, who smiled and headed us to where "The Eagle" would roost for the evening. He took us to the very top of the campground, to the best site available. He was still smiling later when he explained that he had been told an Eagle RV would be arriving later.

He thought we had an "American Eagle Coach". That explained why I had to run an extension cord from our private deck back to where a "bigger" Eagle would have plugged in!

This park, right down the road from one of NASCAR racer Bill Elliott's homes, is perfectly situated above a lake that is part of the Tennessee Valley Authority and this end of the lake will be dry by mid-September, but skiing is possible right up through Labor Day. Most of the county is part of a National Forest and is perfect for vacations.

The Park was spotless. Level sites made for easy parking, and the pavilion was perfect as a centerpiece and the place where the campers met. We visited with several people over the course of the afternoon and evening, including a producer of Charles Kuralt's show "On The Road" and spent many enjoyable hours discussing loads of different issues. The pavilion has a TV, laundry room, bath and shower rooms, books, puzzles, games, swings, picnic tables, lawn chairs and even a gas grill -- all for guests' use.
