Arriving at midday, Curt Stephens greeted us and told us dinner that evening would be at The Ark, a fine dining restaurant in Nahcotta at Willapa Bay. We were staying here for a few days and I knew we were in for a special time. Curt had a package of local information and plans to tour the area with us and help bring the Long Beach Peninsula to our readers. We got settled in to space #68 of this AAA rated park and got ready for dinner.

One of the first things Cindy noticed was the new park model, to bring the very latest services to campers. This park is 10.5 acres and has a motel, guest houses as well as RV and tent sites. It has an outside pool and enclosed spa. There is a rec hall with ping pong table, pool table, foosball, video games and refreshment machines. There is a playground, basketball hoop, horseshoe pits and a volleyball net and there was cable TV.....which always makes us happy campers. The sites varied from those in full sunshine, to ones tucked in among the many trees. All were level and grassy, with a picnic table.

As Curt and I toured the grounds he mentioned how some of the campers would be back for their thirtieth summer. He showed me a ruler that the kids had been measuring themselves with over the years and a pedal bike/car that he had built for his son. One camper had returned to make sure her son rode the car, as she had as a youngster. You could feel the memories of years gone by.

Curt and Karen made us feel comfortable and Curt took us on a tour the second day. That night Melissa, Curt and Karen's daughter, joined us in Long Beach, Washington at Doogers for dinner.
