Located just south of Port Aransas on the Gulf side of Mustang Island is a great place to spend your winter or special vacation.

Everyone was so glad to see us because we had brought some rain with us from Louisiana! It made for jokes and started this off just right.

After setting up camp, Kevin Brown, one of the three owners of the park, came by and took me on a tour of the park and surrounding areas. It was the most detailed tour I've been on yet. We did the park, the surrounding coastline and the Town of Port Aransas.

Upon our return from town, we met with Kevin' partners, Greg Smith and Buddy Seeds, and talked about the park and traveling in general.

Only about half of their available land has been developed, so there is room for even more. And plans are in the works. The sites were all perfectly level and they gave me the use of a golf cart to run around this huge park to take photos. It sure did allow me to take even more. Birds from all over congregate in the marshy areas and along the dunes and I go some good pictures. This is a great park for birdwatchers.

As I roamed around, I met several staff members going about their duties. All were very pleasant and helpful.

Our site was in the middle of the park near one of the huge swimming pools. We enjoyed the Jacuzzi that evening and watched the gorgeous sunset.

The large recreation building was nearby. New postal boxes for each site were being installed in the hall. It was set up to be able to host any activity they might plan.

Cindy had her instant phone hookup and was a happy camper! She loved it being such a clean park and everything looked brand new. They had just build a bath house that has a special handicap accessible bathroom, designed for easy use. It is really nice and one of the few we have seen.

Next to the recreation building was an outdoor stage where bands play for the campers and one was planned for that weekend. We wish we could stay, but more reviews are scheduled....we always seems to miss the special treats some parks offer!

This park is a winner and we recommend it highly! The rains kept coming and going, but Texas has been in a 10-year drought, so we were glad to bring some their way.
