The Rookwood Inn - A Victorian Inn in the Berkshires
Lenox, Massachusetts

It was obviously going to be another blistering hot day, so we arrived early to introduce ourselves and ask about a local kennel for Lexxus. Amy Lindner-Lesser, owner of The Rookwood Inn, immediately recommended one and even called to set it up for us. Off we went to make Lexxus comfortable and take in a little of the shopping the area is famous for before returning at check-in time.
Upon our return, we were shown to a wonderful, huge room. There was a vase of fresh roses, a sitting area, king size bed and wonderful antiques. In the private bath were all the amenities one would need, including the pima cotton bathrobes -- and best of all - air conditioning and a telephone! That evening there was a terrific thunderstorm which finally broke the record heat wave!

Our hostess, Amy, was great! She showed us around the Inn, which dates back to the 1830s when the oldest portion was a tavern with lodging, and boasts a baby grand piano in the parlor. Everywhere you looked were antiques that brought one back to the days of yesteryear. One special guest room in the turret has oval windows that offer a unique view from three stories high. There are 19 rooms and suites in the inn with a wide variety of sizes and uses. Everyone from a single person to a family will be comfortable at The Rookwood.

After a great night's sleep, we rose early for breakfast. There was coffee, tea, orange juice, cranberry-raspberry juice, grapefruit juice, apple juice, prune juice or tomato juice. We started with the yogurt & fresh fruit cup with blueberries, strawberries and granola. Next came sunshine muffins with carrots, pineapple & raisins, spinach strata and cantaloupe slices. What a great way to start the day!

After breakfast, we got to meet Rudy, Amy's 6-month old cocker spaniel! He is adorable and told us he was looking forward to our return visit so that he can meet Lexxus!
