Shangri-La On The Creek Campground
Milton, Pennsylvania

Located in Milton, PA is a great place that is right in the middle of loads of activity and fun, but so quiet. No traffic noise can be heard and it is so peaceful we wished we could have stayed longer. It is one of our marked places to return to when this adventure ends.

A catfish pond, game room, pool and baby pool, Frisbee, golf, basketball court, playground, volleyball net, walking paths, foot paths, badminton, horseshoe pit, pavilions, ceramic classes, two-seater bicycles and tons of events from hayrides to pool contests planned daily, make sure you always have a great time at this park. New for 1999, mid-June through Labor Day, they have planned daily children's activities. They may include candy bar bingo, lollipop bush, sandbox hunt, scanvenger hunt, musical buckets, sunken treasure hunt, candy hunt, peanut scramble and gold rush. All designed to keep our little folks happy and busy!

The general store was brimming with things you may need in camp and the number of tent campers for a week day was surprising. "We have a lot that come to tent camp, but we can always handle more," said Pam Koons, who along with her husband George, owns and manages the park.

Mike took over 500 pictures and got some of the resident geese will feign attack and then retreat. He especially liked the layout and design of the cottages and cabins. The gazebos gave the setting a special look. Set into the woods, the cabins are where we would have stayed if we didn't have the motorhome. We made our way to Site #406, just above the pool, and went about setting up camp. In this premiere site, with phone and cable hookups.....it was roughing it our way!

Neighbors offered assistance and commented on how great and quiet the park was, and if you listened, you had to agree. Kids were busy coming and going to and from events. The park was clean and stressed the safety of driving slowly (5mph) in the park. The bath houses were spotless as was the laundry area. We were very impressed with the excellent upkeep of all areas of the park. Shangri-La is just that! As night fell, we could hear the bull frogs in the pond and the water rippling by in the creek. A really peaceful setting!

A long drive ahead of us necessitated an early morning departure. The next time you are planning a family outing near Williamsport, try this great campground! Visit their Website and if you get there before we get back, be sure to tell them Cruising America said Hi!
