Soldotna B&B Lodge
A full staff taking care of this 16 room lodge made it a highly sought after accommodation. We loved the rooms and beautiful grounds. The private launch dock and fishing charter service, from the lodge, makes this a unique and great place to stay.
We arrived early to take pictures of the lodge and were greeted by Monika. She took us on the tour and explained that this was a place choosen by a lot of fishermen that use their fishing service to catch their limit and then display them on the internet, as there is a web cam on the dock. This is the first web cam we have encountered at a B&B. When we got back downstairs we met her husband Steve and his parents. A lot of staff members were busy taking care of guests.
We went into the guests common area. It was the second time we had seen the sunken conversation pit area. It had a nice fireplace. There was a bear rug in front of the TV. And the entire area was surrounded by huge windows that over looked the grounds. It was a very private setting and one that was romantic as well.
Cindy got our email and I took the pictures until she was ready for dinner. We went to the Riverview restuarant, which was only a short walk from the lodge. After a fabulous dinner we returned to our room for the evening.
Our room had a king size bed, TV and phone. There was a nice working table with chairs and a vanity.Cindy really liked the room because of the balcony, which we shared with the next room. Also there were six toilet rooms and five showers that are shared between the 16 rooms. There was never a wait for the facilities and they were spotless, as was the entire lodge. There is one room that can be reserved that has a private bath.
We watched TV for a while and worked on some of the reviews and then drifted off for a great nights sleep.
The next morning, we had breakfast in the glass-topped sun room. There was a combination continental with a hot dish breakfast. We had canteloupe and peaches with cold cereal. Then we had Hungarian eggs with English muffins, coffee, tea and fresh orange juice. We also visited with a nice doctor and his family that were visiting from Mississippi. They had flown up and had a few more days before having to return south. They were real nice folks.
Unfortuanately, we didn't get to visit again with Monika and Steve. They had left early that morning to take other guests on one of their famous charter fishing trips. The staff did a great job during their absence. We said our good byes and loaded up.
This is a fine place to stop and spend time so check out their Website and make your reservations!
