Villas On The Bay
St. Augustine, Florida

It was a little cooler than last year when we stayed with Tony and Brenda Bushell at the Casablanca Inn Bed & Breakfast. Brenda was, unfortunately, not in town for our visit. Tony took great care of us and put us in "The Eagle's Nest", on the third floor of his Villas By the Bay. It was the perfect start for our Winter Tour.

The view from the "Nest" was spectacular. The St. Augustine Historic District is one of the most beautiful scenes at twilight. We sat above the bay on our private balcony, watching our motorhome below and enjoyed a beverage. We watched the lights fade over the inlets across the water. The next morning, I got some great sunrise shots of the calm bay with dozens of still-sleeping sailboats scattered about.

Our suite had a complete kitchen with stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker and all the dishes and tableware, a large walk-in closet, queen-sized bed, dining table, a living room area, telephone, TV and was air-conditioned. On the balcony outside were chairs and a hammock. An exercise area was just down the hall in one of the common areas but, terry-cloth robes awaited us beside the large Jacuzzi tub in the spacious bath........that was more inviting than the weight room!

We took a lot of photos today. Mike watched TV while downloading the photos to his computer. He does love his Sony camera! I had lots of email and had to get some work done. It wasn't long till we drifted off to sleep.

After a great nights sleep, we were treated to another great breakfast at Casablanca Inn. Peggy from Eureka Springs, Arkansas was so sweet as she greeted us. We were glad to be on the road again. Innkeepers and their staff make us appreciate the B&B Industry so much! Peggy brought us coffee, orange juice and a pitcher of ice water. This was followed by rum muffins and bran muffins. Next came cinnamon stuffed french toast with syrup and walnuts, along with cantaloupe, pink grapefruit, orange slices, grapes. All was served on the front porch overlooking the Bay.

The Villas would be perfect for any business person or couple looking for short-term luxury in Historic St. Augustine. I could easily stay here a couple of months! The Villas unit has 9 such suites and Tony told us most are even larger than The Eagles Nest! There is plenty of off-street parking at The Villas, overlooking the bay. Tony graciously made available to us one of the parking spots for Casablanca Inn (in the center of the Old Town) during the length of our stay in St. Augustine, the perfect spot for The Eagle!
