Thanks for dropping by AllCampgrounds! For years now, Mount Rushmore National Park has been the host of one of the greatest Fourth of July fireworks displays anywhere in the United States. And though that particular display is in doubt for 2010, there’s still no better place I can think of to spend the nation’s birthday than under the gaze of some of its most accomplished presidents, the man-made sculptural marvel that “put Rushmore on the map” and draws people to its amazing surroundings. Let’s talk Mount Rushmore! (more…)

Thanks for “tuning in” to today’s AllCampgrounds blog. We’ve not seen hide nor hair of our “Camping for Everyone” series for a while now, but that’s about to change as we discuss camp grounds catering to a growing demographic: campers who need wheelchairs, walkers, or other assisting equipment, but still want to be active and enjoy the outdoors. Luckily, with more and more awareness of access rights, there are plenty of places where visitors of all ability can enjoy nature in a serene and beautiful environment. (more…)

Good morning, campers! On today’s blog we’ll be talking about fireworks safety for your Memorial Day and Fourth of July festivities. Whether you’re tent camping or live the RV life, everyone has to be careful of starting fires in the backcountry. But there are some private camp grounds that provide areas for enjoying fireworks; and even if you’re only pitching a tent in your backyard, there are some things to keep in mind. In the interest of keeping the 4th safe and fun, and helping protect great holiday traditions at the same time, a little reminder on firework safety. (more…)

Fireworks

Welcome back to AllCampgrounds! With the summer season upon us, it’ll soon be time for grilling and fireworks. It’s not surprising if you want to hit the road in your RV or go tent camping and enjoy cool evenings with friends in the great outdoors. But if you’re leaving home, where can you go to have all the great family fun and excitement of a community fireworks display? Lots of natural spaces have serious restrictions on fire, and that definitely includes fireworks, to protect the land. But there are also plenty where it’s only a short journey to spectacular summer displays. (more…)

The wilds of eastern Nevada

Good morning! A bit ago on AllCampgrounds, we began to explore Nevada by focusing on the best in tent camping. As we learned, there are a lot of huge, well-developed state and national parks offering a true glimpse of the sometimes harsh, but always serene beauty of this desert landscape.
There’s also great lakefront camping! But, admittedly, the weather can be harsh for non-locals, and that may make tent camping a challenge. That’s where RV camping comes in, and Nevada has enough RV parks for anyone! So, as we continue our 50 States Series, it’s on to RV camping Nevada! (more…)

Good afternoon from AllCampgrounds!
Today, I think it’s important to brief our readers on the ongoing situation with the Gulf oil spill and its impact on camping in coastal states.
Information is scarce in some respects, but we’ll provide links and follow-up to help the tent camping and RV camping community understand how problems in the Gulf are affecting the camping scene in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida, the habitats most likely to be see oil come ashore. (more…)

Hello again from AllCampgrounds!
Today, we continue on our quest to camp all 50 states by dropping in on the camping scene in Nevada. Not the first place you think of when you think camping?
You’re not alone: millions of people flock to Las Vegas every year, but only a fraction go out and enjoy the state’s many camp grounds.
We’re going to do our small part to change that today, introducing you to some of Nevada’s great tent camping opportunities. RV camping, which is a good deal more widespread, will follow soon! (more…)

And where better to begin than the state we’ve been touring lately, Tennessee? (more…)

Tennessee may be the land of Nashville and bluegrass, but did you know it’s also a great place for camping?
On this edition of AllCampgrounds, we’ll be looking at some of the best tent camping opportunities in Tennessee.
With plenty of great rivers, mountains, and free backcountry camping at all state parks that offer it, this southeastern state is especially inviting for mountaineers and boating enthusiasts who want to get out into the wild and go camping quick.
